Valentine's Day.

If you have been around these parts before you read that I am the least romantic gal, well, ever.  My idea of the perfect date is some form of a Boston sporting event with a beer in hand. While long walks on the beach would be nice it would have nothing to do with the conversation and company, and everything to do with the beach being my happy place. While there have been a few exceptions to this, I just can't wrap my head around the hopeless romantic thing. With that being said, I don't want you to think I don't believe in love and will never find it. I do believe in it and I have found it.

While I think the idea of gifts for Valentine's day is stupid, appreciating the people around us and letting them know we love them definitely is not. Life happens quickly and tomorrow is never promised. If you're one to preach about how much you hate the holiday step back and ask yourself a few questions. Is your family extremely important to you? Would it hurt your heart terribly to lose a friend? Does your puppy make your day? Then you too have found love. Embrace it.

I can only imagine what kind of hateful status' and tweets I will come across on February 14th. Hey, even if you are having a single ladies drinking fest with your girlfriends, at least you're appreciating something or someone(s).

Are you wondering where I'm going with this? Me too, a little bit. A Valentine's checklist. For the hopeless romantic and the hopeless... hopeless.

ONE.// Chocolate. Whether you're in a relationship, single, married, emotionally damaged or emotionally unavailable (name that movie) buy yourself some chocolate and enjoy every bite. You're welcome.

TWO.// Tell someone you love that you love them. Mom, Dad, brother, sister, puppy, friend, hairdresser, manicurist.. whatever. Just do it.

THREE.// Don't say negative things about a holiday other people may enjoy. Gifts though, gifts are stupid.

FOUR.// Appreciate yourself for wherever you are in life right now and how far you have come. You know, instead of gifts for the people around you,(if you're into that) I think you should treat yourself to something fancy. Yep, buy yourself that Beamer. Or your favorite bottle of wine. Semantics.

FIVE.// Understand that love is extremely magical and fulfilling. Not having certain people in your life would make you one miserable girl now wouldn't it. So even if it is that single ladies drunk night with your friends, at least you have friends to have single ladies drunk night with.

Wine Down Wednesday.

Good afternoon blog land! I am blogging to ya'll today from 7 degree weather that will feel like -10 tonight. I am also buried (not really, I ventured into the world briefly) under a foot of snow. Perhaps a little more but I mean who really knows. I also am no longer fighting a cold but am a sneezy, coughing and disgusting mess. I know, how attractive can one human being be. So despite the title of this post being about wine-ing down, tonight,  I think I will be "baileys-and-hot-chocolate-plus-nyquil-ing down. That's just too hard to fit into a title and doesn't own a category in my little dot com corner.

Moving on.

Since I was blessed with a snow day and runny nose I spent the majority of my day scouring Pinterest and various blogs for inspiration. What I came up with was uncontrollable jealousy after reading Erin's vacation recap over at Three Thirds Hazel and depression over my lack of creativity and money from pinterest-surfing. (I should mention I made it out to run a few errands and a little dress modeling. Find pics on twitter @pearls_sass.) So anyway since today is such a relaxing day with such strong jealousy, I would like to present-

If Life Were Pinterest Perfect with your host, me.

If life were pinterest perfect I would be packing my bags and jetting off to this picture perfect location in Cabo San Lucas. I would be able to lounge on the beach while drinking fruity cocktails and spend my evenings eating amazing dinners only to burn calories by dancing the night away. Except since life would be perfect calories wouldn't actually exist, duh.

If life were pinterest perfect I would have a cute little apartment decorated impeccably, where I could be as active or lazy as I wanted with no one to answer or explain myself too. I mean so what if a girl wants to bake chocolate cookies at midnight or do a circuit workout at 2am. Yolo, baby.

Speaking of baking. If life were perfect I would make amazing meals and desserts every night and the dishes would wash themselves. I am working on transitioning this one into a real life skill. The cooking that is. Stay tuned. (Those calories wouldn't matter either.. obviously. )

If life were perfect this would be a casual outfit for me opposed to the leggings, sweatshirt and boots look I rock daily. Oh yeah and there would be a photographer following me around to catch moments like these.

Finally, if life were pinterest perfect I would be blessed with the time and creativity to make something like this happen.

However, life isn't perfect. Not even a little bit. It's okay because I still have a roof over my head and adult hot chocolate to relax with. I have puffs next to my warm bed and dinner in the oven. So, without all of the extras, I'm as rich as they come. In love, happiness and morals that is!

It's about that time, folks. Happy hump day!

Wine Down Wednesday.

Do you ever have those days (or weeks) where nothing seems to go right? Where the world is conspiring against you and you feel like a tower of cards just waiting to collapse? Well, tonight I collapsed. I cried way harder and uglier than any girl should but am feeling much better now. I am now "wining" down in bed with Nashville and some Merlot. In order to keep myself sane I am going to talk myself into everything that is okay. Care to come along for the ride?

Oh. First. I lost my favorite Tiffany ring in the snow yesterday and have officially cried over it five times in 24 hours. My parents bought me that ring for my sixteenth birthday and I have worn it everyday for the last four and a half years. Heartbroken doesn't begin to describe it. Go ahead call me dramatic- I don't care. Losing my ring is NOT okay.

ONE.// It's okay that I was trying to eat healthy this week and immediately ran for the bottle of wine after my breakdown.

TWO.// It's okay that my Dad is complaining I haven't provided an adequate wish list for Christmas and then shot down the two items I really really wanted. He's just trying to make me happy. I think.

THREE.// It's okay that it is going to snow this weekend. You live in New England, Shannon. Deal with it.

FOUR.// It's okay that I look at engagement rings like it's my job. I am no where close to marriage but a girl can dream right? In case my future husband is reading - I like Tiffany & CO.

FIVE.// It's okay that I wore my pajamas to work today and did nothing more than brush my teeth. Nope, I did not brush my hair today and I'm not sorry. I was sad and feeling sick. Appreciate me.

SIX.// It's okay that I spent way too much money via Amazon.com today. Christmas presents make people smile and that is my favorite.

SEVEN.// It's okay that nothing I am getting for Christmas this year is a surprise. I am blessed enough to receive anything at all and that is what is important.

EIGHT.// It's okay that girls from high school have been so nasty to me. I know I am better because I don't say nasty things to or about people.

Thanks for listening assuming you made it this far. If it is? Bless you. Have a great rest of your week!

XOXO
